Masha Klimkin, known as 0190, is a composer and producer based in Berlin, and her single “white transparent” is a sea of cozy ambience.
Released in January, “white transparent” is, in essence, about winter. That much is obvious, but it’s also about being stuck—at home, or in your own thoughts. Feeling stuck, feeling lost in all the whiteness, with nothing to draw your eye, nothing to beckon you. Just endless emptiness.
And the echoes. Kind reminders of lives lived in another time, in another place, by another you. “It’s still you,” the piece implies gently. The same child who went out exploring eons ago. That same person, not lost, just a bit out of focus. A shadow in the mist. And if you squint just right, you can see it clearly through all the fog. You are never alone, and you are never lost.

Jacob “NTHNL” Rudin is a classically trained composer and pianist turned multi-flutist, producer and sound-healing practitioner. Having created electronic and acoustic music in a wide variety of contexts since 2012. Jacob works in both the healing and contemporary music worlds, drawing on a rich sonic practice that involves experimental sound design, field recording, and virtuosic performances on a wide range of instruments. He currently lives in Brooklyn, NY, where he teaches piano lessons, hosts regular soundbaths throughout the city and gigs with his band, NTHNL.
