‘Among Lunar Glaciers’ is an experimental ambient drone work, conceived as an imaginary soundtrack to an exploration of glaciers on an icy moon and the varied environments within the glacier’s depths. In making the album, Spectrical challenged himself by using only acoustic guitar, violin, and occasional analogue noise as the sole sound sources. The original recordings were transformed with various computer-based processes into otherworldly yet intimate soundscapes. A reel-to-reel tape machine was used and manipulated by hand to add vintage textures and imperfections, and a Eurorack system was used for additional sound design. The resulting aural environments invite the listener to daydream about crystalline caverns, subglacial oceans and iridescent atmospheres in a world far from our own.

Sonic Dream Machine returns to M.P.R Ambient with their latest release entitled "Fragile Forest".

"Fragile Forest" was inspired by the tropical rainforest on the island of Kauai which is threatened by human activity, disease and climate change. Field recordings captured on the island, combined with lush pads and soft piano keys recreate the peaceful atmosphere of life in the forest. Fragile Forest is available in two versions, the full version with field recordings and an instrumental without.

Walter Beasley

Walter Beasley is an American Alto and Soprano Saxophonist, a singer and also a composer and producer. He is a professor of music at the Berklee College of Music and the founder of Affable Publishing and Affable Records.

Walter released his first, self-titled, album in 1987 and since 1998 has been one of the top ten best-selling African American saxophonists in the world. Having grown up as a fan of R&B and funk and trained in classical and jazz saxophone, his own style falls between contemporary R&B and contemporary jazz, a blend which has been called "smooth jazz"

To celebrate 'Earth Day 2025' the track 'Pale Blue Dot' by Rumpistol is now playing on M.P.R Chill.

We are proud to present the third single 'Pale Blue Dot' from Rumpistol's forthcoming Nebula album - which will be released on Earth Day, an annual event on April 22 supporting environmental protection.

The song evolves around a melancholic piano melody, a jazzy double bass and whiskered drums and later gentle woodwinds and a breathtaking string section takes the song into higher altitudes and let us swirl gently in space, before bringing us back to earth again.

The song was inspired by Earthrise - the iconic photograph of Earth taken from lunar orbit by astronaut William Anders in 1968, during the Apollo 8 mission.

The 'Nebula' album

Rumpistol's 9th album Nebula is much more than just an album.

Where his piano trilogy cultivated inner space, Nebula draws inspiration from two fronts: a tribute to the awe of the Space Race and its global impact, and a focus on live performance. It blends jazz, classical, and modern electronic music, using both vintage and contemporary tones to evoke the cosmos’ wonder.

In the encounter between acoustic elements and the more alien sounds of synths and samplers, Rumpistol continues the investigation of the encounter between classical, jazz and electronic music that he began with his critically acclaimed trilogy, this time in a more expressive and at times almost rock-like expression.

Recorded to perfection and designed with a (pardon the pun) “stellar cast” of musicians and visual designers, the album is the next logical step in Rumpistol’s new anchoring in his live ensemble, breaking out of the traditional molds that tend to keep producers narrowed to a single lane.

About Rumpistol

"Rum" is a Danish word for "space", "room" or "reverb". Over the course of 22 years, award-winning Danish producer, film composer, electronic musician and pianist Jens B. Christiansen (aka Rumpistol) has developed into one of the most curious and versatile artists of his generation.

Since 2020, Rumpistol's career has taken new, significant turns, motivated by personal experiences. After suffering from stress in 2018, he created the stripped-down, neoclassical album "After the Flood" (2020), written for piano and strings, as he could not use a computer as a working tool due to his condition. A fruitful method that he elaborated on the sequel "Isola" (2022), where bass and drums came together with more jazzy moods.

He completed this development in 2023 with the final work in the trilogy: "Going Inside", which delved even further into the existential depths of the mind, - an album created for inner journeys and psychedelic therapy and gained musical comparisons to composers such as Nils Frahm and Max Richter.

Over the years Rumpistol has performed in the EU, US, Mexico, China and Brazil, and has been played on the BBC by both Gilles Peterson and the late John Peel.

He has received a Danish Music Award and a Carl Prize with his band Kalaha, and in 2024 he helped win the Carl Prize for Jazz Composer of the Year with the duo KALEIIDO.

He was born in 1978 and currently lives in Copenhagen. Nebula is his ninth album.

UK artist Huess, presents 'Hair on Fire', a piece from his latest project, which blends 1970s/1980s ambient and modern classical influences with real recorded instruments. The track layers vintage synth textures with field recordings made in the Norwegian wilderness, creating a meditative but intense atmosphere.

In his own words:

‘Beatmaking bedroom producer expecting his first child makes ambient album’ is probably not the most original or compelling story in music (nor the most auspicious opening for trying to get you to listen to my music!) but, nevertheless, that’s what this is. Sharing the first track ‘Hair on Fire’

"I was thinking about the music my parents played when I was very young (pre-verbal) – the Beatles, Motown, Atlantic soul – and how deeply embedded in both the conscious and sub-conscious parts of my brain it is. I was thinking about how to make my child feel calm but also subtly stimulated through music. I was thinking about the natural world and its rhythms and cadences and I was thinking about some of the suffocating background music we have to hear whether we want to or not."

"Why ‘Hair on Fire’? The sound of wind thorough the trees opens the track, blowing out the cobwebs as a cleansing renewal. The title is a metaphor for the reaction we have to experiencing strong emotions like fear or excitement (appropriate for someone expecting their first child!) when your hair stands on end, even so much so it feels like it is on fire."

"There are a few contradictions in this project: a two part album intended to be listened to as four individual continuous sides of music where it’s probably more likely that people will pick and choose a preferred track. This is electronic music but I was interested in making things seem more natural: recording with real instruments and acoustics – piano and organ in Bøler Kirke, Oslo, avoiding synth plug ins in favour of original vintage instruments– plus field recordings. And, clearly, I am putting more music out there adding to the colossal weight of sound in the world."

"With all the AI-generated imagery around, I wanted the artwork to reflect the satisfaction I take from patiently building up a painting using techniques that have been around for hundreds of years. Although this album has been created with a very specific audience of one unborn child in mind, I hope you will also like what you hear."

Berlangãlan is the solo project of Raúl Galán Berlanga, a producer who develops this work along with playing synthesizers in the group "The Stirrings". Passionate about synths, sound creation and ambience. In this project the focus is his interest in soundscapes, tension, repetition and noise to create images and the soundtrack of a film not yet seen.
