Latest release from "Sink to the Sea" entitled "All the Colors of the Dark" now playing on M.P.R Ambient.
"All the Colors of the Dark" is a guitar-focused slow, evolving, atmospheric track taken from the recently released self-titled album.
California instrumental post-rock, psychedelic, ambient, experimental, art-rock band Sink to the Sea has just released its self-titled debut 9 track album.
Recorded live with very few overdubs, the band is composed of Marc Bobro (basses, euphonium, theremin, synths), James Van Arsdale (guitars, synths, drones), and Noah Whatoff (acoustic and electronic drums, samples). They are based in Southern California but do not like the sun.
Sink to the Sea’s debut album is sonic exploration. Its music is adventurous. Compositions are combined with extensive improvisations that allow for interplay. It creates moody, sensuous soundscapes that are soundtracks to small moments in time. They are inward and outward-facing meditations, conveying meaning without words. The music is inspired by the natural world, borrowing from visual art forms such as collage and kinetic abstract sculpture in the way sounds are built and used.
Horror movie soundtracks, Frippertronics, free jazz, electronica, and psychedelia all combine to form evocative and thoughtful pieces that delve into varied subjects such as dreams, war, enlightenment, darkness, discovery, communication, and our six senses. It is their hope that these works evoke feelings and ask deep questions—their layers revealing more and more over time.
