Djuphjärtad (deep-hearted) (released 7/17/26 on Native Cat Recordings) is a collaborative EP from Swedish singer Emma Lucia and ambient project Ship Says Om (Jenny Gillespie Mason). Friends in the Berkeley, California music community, the two artists began working together after Lucia invited Mason to help shape several of her songs into a more atmospheric, exploratory form.

The EP moves between two currents: intimate songs of romantic anticipation (“Keep Me” and “Feel Your Eyes”) and elemental sound meditations such as the Swedish-language “Ditt Hjärta” and the wordless “Water Prayer.” Mason’s production draws heavily from found sound—birdsong, wind, thunder, rustling trees, owls, and the steady rhythm of oars moving through water—woven with ambient synths, acoustic guitar, piano, and percussion.

The result blends Lucia’s luminous voice with Ship Says Om’s immersive sonic textures, evoking the quiet expanses of lakes and forests while tracing the emotional thresholds of new love. The music carries echoes of experimental ambient and modern composition, recalling the sensibilities of Stina Nordenstam, Hiroshi Yoshimura, Philip Glass, and The Books.

“Assisi”, from the album Here And Other Faraway Places, finds Frenchman Max Foucher at his most quietly contemplative, combining the organic imperfections of found sound with the slow, enveloping textures of ambient electronica. Over its unhurried, almost processional pace, warm sustained tones and softly pulsing electronic layers gradually gather around distant, tactile sounds, creating an atmosphere that feels simultaneously intimate and expansive. “Assisi”, like the rest of 'Here And Other Faraway Places', was recorded in April 2026 in Milan, Rome, and Malta. The album is an inner journey through cities, memories, and imagined destinations, where passing voices, traffic signals, police sirens, industrial hum, birdsong, and countless other fragments of everyday life drift in and out of subtle, melodic, and often hypnotic electronics. The album carries an elusive spiritual undercurrent, with its church bells and suggestive titles—'Assisi', 'Loreto', 'Urbs', 'Way Pilgrim', 'Swimming The Tiber', 'This My Crusade'—evoking pilgrimage, faith, and the restless search for somewhere beyond the familiar. Yet this is no literal travelogue. Foucher transforms the sounds of movement and place into something dreamlike and ambiguous, where tracks like 'Sforza', 'Maleth', and 'Somerled' feel less like destinations than fragments of a half-remembered journey. Like his debut Music For Landfill, it finds beauty in the overlooked and accidental, turning the noise of passing life into an atmospheric, mysterious, and deeply transportive piece of electronic music.

Nekomachi - no wonder

Featuring on M.P.R Ambient is the upcoming album by Nekomachi titled 'no wonder'

no wonder  •  なるほど is a collection of experimental ambient pieces by veteran Tokyo-based artist Nekomachi. Working entirely with a vintage Yamaha QY100 rather than modern computer-based tools, Nekomachi weaves field recordings, shimmering digital synths and chopped-up, glitched sequences into immersive and detailed sound worlds. 

Abstract in form, the album blurs the boundaries of genre and mood, shifting from open and expansive to playful and quasi-rhythmic; from hypnotic and meditative to what could only be described as synthetic lounge jazz. 

Nekomachi describes the pieces as fragments, created in spare moments over the course of six years, their origins now only partially remembered. The level of cohesion achieved by Nekomachi in fitting these fragments together is a testament to his talent and careful composition.

Two of Swords releases debut dark ambient EP 'A theory of silence'

'A theory of silence' explores desire and fear, speaking and withholding, attachment and release across six instrumental tracks.

The artist name comes from the Two of Swords tarot card, interpreted here as a state of divided feeling held in restraint, where the desire to be loved is matched by an equally strong fear of surrender. The project was also shaped by John Keats's notion of negative capability, the capacity to remain within uncertainty, mystery, and doubt without forcing a rational conclusion.

Across the EP, the track titles form a loose poem that moves from beginning to distance, estrangement, release, and passage. The closing track, toward the other shore, represents the final movement of that progression, where letting go becomes less an ending than a passage into something unknown.

Rather than determine what each track must mean, the record leaves room for listeners to bring their own experiences into it and find something of their own within it.

tsubai - ilulissat

Featuring on M.P.R Ambient is the upcoming album by tsubai titled 'Ilulissat'.

Following the release of We Were Here under his indie rock and shoegaze moniker Stubai, Australian musician Matt Teffer turns towards completely different terrain with his debut ambient work as tsubai. Inspired by a journey to Greenland's Ilulissat Icefjord in July 2025, ilulissat is a deeply immersive reflection on one of the planet’s most awe-inspiring landscapes.

Named after the Greenlandic word for ‘icebergs’, the album captures the majesty and mystery of the icescapes of Ilulissat. Transfixed by the scale, shifting forms and colours of the icebergs, Matt returned home to Sydney inspired to translate his experience into sound.

Using nothing but electric guitar as its sole sound source, ilulissat weaves vast, glacial soundscapes through meticulously layered recordings. Patient movements and stillness give way to emotional swells, evoking towering ice formations slowly emerging from the mist before opening into expansive, soaring passages reminiscent of a seabird sailing the arctic air above the fjord.

Though shaped by the isolation of frozen icescapes, there are currents of warmth and humanity beneath ilulissat’s surface. Subtle melodies emerge from the myriad layers like light glowing and refracted through ancient ice.

Composed on the opposite side of the world from the place that inspired it, tsubai carries the sense of wonder of Ilulissat across oceans and into sound.

VPC Ensemble Guides Listeners on a Sonic Journey Through the Universe as “One Mind, Imagining Itself”

While watching a new life begin, Dash Lunde saw his own existence fold back on itself. The quiet vertigo of new parenthood serves as just one of many creative sparks for VPC Ensemble’s debut album, Life Is a Strange Loop. A response to Douglas Hofstadter’s theories of consciousness, the record is a slow-paced but high-energy ritual of human presence, creating an immersive, intentional sound journey through the universe: one mind, imagining itself. For VPC, consciousness is not an illusion of loops, but this self-referential looping consciousness is the nature of the entire universe.

VPC Ensemble is an exciting collective of New York improvisers that creates a textural sanctuary where ambient stillness meets jazz improvisation, led by Lunde’s David Gilmour-like plaintive guitar melodies. By weaving together guitar electric viola, flute, and samplers with wordless vocal textures, expressive percussion, and movement, the group evokes the universal mind imagining itself — complex interlocking pieces that still form a cohesive whole. “My son arrived while these songs were still fresh. Listening back to mixes of the album while holding him, I’d realize my parents did this exact thing, held me a similar way. But the real trippiness came thinking ahead — someday he'll have a consciousness as complex as mine, full of his own hopes and dreams. It felt like cosmic vertigo.”

The experience extends into immersive live shows where movement-reactive visuals and somatic bodywork invite the audience to harmonize with the ensemble. This recursive feedback loop of music, dance, and light transforms the performance into a space for embodied meditation and shared consciousness.

Helga Luzhnikova is a Tbilisi-based sound artist, experimental composer, musician, and educator. She is currently working on the soundtrack for the video game “Yuha’s Nightmares” by Supr Experience and is a member of the musical projects “Krasnye Zori” and “Lurji”.

Her solo releases include “Memories Melodies", an archival album exploring her earliest encounters with sound, and a series of research-based singles. Her practice explores the relationships between sound, dreams, waking life, memory, and the subtle transformations of everyday environments. Working with noise, field recordings, and found sounds, she approaches sound as a language for expressing experiences that resist words.

Ambient artists Our Forgotten Future and dreamwarper have joined forces on "Jackpot Zero," a poignant, 10-minute collaborative composition featured on the release Fortune via Studio Obscura. The track offers a deeply human reflection on recovery, self-reclamation, and the quiet triumph of choosing real life over the artificial highs of chance.

While the title might suggest empty-handed defeat, "Jackpot Zero" flips the narrative. The song was conceived by dreamwarper as a testament to overcoming gambling disorder; reframing "zero" not as a loss, but as the ultimate victory of walking away

"Jackpot Zero is about recovery from gambling disorder," explains dreamwarper. "For me, the jackpot is always zero- go live your life. It means zero is a good amount, because I wouldn’t want that money anyhow. Basically, I’ve won because I’ve decided not to play anymore and enjoy life. It’s a complicated way to say, 'The best things in life are free.'"

That emotional arc is mirrored in the track’s layered, dialogue-driven production. The piece began with dreamwarper recording the foundational base melodies and centering guitar tracks; infused with his signature blend of atmospheric space, analog drives, and digital glitter. He then passed the session to Our Forgotten Future, who introduced rich, analog-focused drone elements, swells, and evolving textures.

By processing his layers through reel-to-reel tape machines and physical cassette loops, Our Forgotten Future added a warm, organic character to the arrangement. The physical resonance of the analog tape acts as a grounding counterweight to the initial melodies, sonically mirroring the transition from tension and compulsion to liberation, presence, and peace.

Ambient artist and sound designer dreamwarper has unveiled "Moon Eyes," an intensely personal and atmospheric track featured on the album The Truth is Beautiful. Dedicated to his one true love, the composition serves as a sonic celebration of her beauty, empathy, and profound ability to accept love, balancing overwhelming emotion with ambient relaxation.

For "Moon Eyes," dreamwarper adopted a highly intentional creative workflow. Rather than building a soundscape and applying a meaning to it afterward, the process began with a specific emotional theme. To achieve this delicate balance between intensity and serenity, dreamwarper drew structural inspiration from Brian Eno’s ambient classic An Ending (Ascent) as well as the album Indefinite Ends by Our Forgotten Future. Utilizing airy, poignant loops as a starting foundation, dreamwarper meticulously layered additional melodic details and intricate "ear candy" over the loops until the exact desired atmosphere was achieved.

The result is a piece that feels both massive and intimate; a focused meditation that anchors the emotional weight of The Truth is Beautiful.

'Antes de olvidar los sueños al despertar' (“Before I Forget My Dreams Upon Waking”) traces the full arc of falling asleep, dreaming, and forgetting.

Tres Centurias, the ambient/slowcore project of Mexican artist Emiliano Arroyo, is preparing to release his debut full-length album, “Antes de olvidar los sueños al despertar”. The eight-track record is a conceptual journey through a single night of sleep from the first moments of stillness, through the N1, N2 and N3 stages of sleep, into REM, and finally the fragile instant of waking and forgetting.

Built around long, delay soaked tones and simple, patient melodies, the album was written and recorded in under a week using a single keyboard.

Tres Centurias describes it as music made first for himself, a way to quiet an overactive mind before sleep, before it became something to share.

About the track 'N2'

“N2” takes its name from the second stage of the sleep cycle, the point where the body begins to fully let go, the track is built on a simple, repeating melody layered beneath long, deep tones, designed to mirror that gradual surrender into rest. It is one of eight pieces that together map the album's arc from wakefulness to dreamless sleep.

Los Angeles-based composer and multi-instrumentalist Boaz Roberts, best known as a member of Switchfoot, has released "Limitless Sky," the debut EP from his ambient music project Lisinopril.

Shaped equally by Roberts' childhood in San Diego surf culture and his classical training since age three, Lisinopril draws on repetitive figures, slow harmonic successions, and layered canons that reveal their architecture over time. The project treats music as process and change as composition, work that asks the listener to slow down and simply listen.

"Exist in balance of opposites," Roberts says of the project. "Motion as a form of meditation and stillness. Perpetual succession of linear and yet non progressive melodies create a frame to rest your mind upon. Breathe slowly and fixate on pulse, natural resonances and time."

Djuphjärtad (deep-hearted) (released 7/17/26 on Native Cat Recordings) is a collaborative EP from Swedish singer Emma Lucia and ambient project Ship Says Om (Jenny Gillespie Mason). Friends in the Berkeley, California music community, the two artists began working together after Lucia invited Mason to help shape several of her songs into a more atmospheric, exploratory form.

The EP moves between two currents: intimate songs of romantic anticipation (“Keep Me” and “Feel Your Eyes”) and elemental sound meditations such as the Swedish-language “Ditt Hjärta” and the wordless “Water Prayer.” Mason’s production draws heavily from found sound—birdsong, wind, thunder, rustling trees, owls, and the steady rhythm of oars moving through water—woven with ambient synths, acoustic guitar, piano, and percussion.

The result blends Lucia’s luminous voice with Ship Says Om’s immersive sonic textures, evoking the quiet expanses of lakes and forests while tracing the emotional thresholds of new love. The music carries echoes of experimental ambient and modern composition, recalling the sensibilities of Stina Nordenstam, Hiroshi Yoshimura, Philip Glass, and The Books.

Lebanese artist and composer Serge Volant announces the release of his debut album, “Everyday is all there is”, arriving on August 7.The album itself is rooted in experimental, ambient and cinematic electronic composition, shaped by field recordings and modular synthesizers.

Beirut remains a central reference point, with Serge incorporating audio recordings from across the city. Rawness, density, and quiet melancholy emerge as a result. The record echoes a melancholy that Serge closely associates with Beirut, capturing the tension between nostalgia for the city's past and a connection to its present. Rather than romanticizing the hardships the country continues to endure, the album finds beauty and meaning in everyday life.

Other parts of the album draw from the emotions and experiences of solo travel, exploring new places and, in turn, discovering new aspects of oneself. These moments are captured through field recordings collected along the way, from the birdsong surrounding the CAMP residency in Aulus-les-Bains in the French Pyrenees to the sounds of Corazón, the music and creative hub in La Plata, Argentina. Through these sonic landscapes, the album documents both physical journeys and personal discovery.

Fine feathers sets the tone for the album. Its title, drawn from the phrase “fine feathers don’t make fine animals,” reflects a tension between appearance and essence. I too, will pray for your god is inspired by the unexpected connections formed with strangers along the road. Through these brief but intense encounters, different belief systems become less abstract and more deeply human. The piece reflects the lasting impression of carrying a fragment of someone else's worldview with you, a quiet gesture of respect, empathy, and shared humanity that remains long after the encounter itself has passed.

In its final moments, the album turns inward. A recorded phone recording made after attending a night out with Beirut appears unpolished, left intentionally intact, closing the work with an openness that resists resolution.

The process of releasing the album has not been without difficulties. In a moment marked by ongoing instability and war, Serge has repeatedly reconsidered the timing of the release, questioning the role of artistic output in the face of crisis. Ultimately, the decision to proceed stems from a belief that creation remains a form of resistance and self expression rather than distraction. The album does not attempt to resolve the regional context, but to exist within it, holding space for memory, emotion, and shared experience.
