Patrick Bek is a Rotterdam (NL) based drummer who embraces musical experimentation. Before discovering the freedom of playing drums in high school, he made beats and sound collages with an old microphone, a Yamaha PSR-180 Keyboard and a Tascam cassette multitracker. His recent music, created during a personal hiatus, is a creative re-orientation towards this playful way of recording, sampling and orchestrating instruments (with updated gear!).
Propelled by a broad musical horizon with pioneering artists like Tony Allen, DJ Shadow, Mount Kimbie and Nicolaas Jaar, Patrick explores the overlapping of electronic music and rhythmic patterns with live drums, percussion, guitars, synths, and other sounds.
His latest single, "Mt Kinabalu," featuring guitarist and childhood friend Davey van Giesen, stands as a testament to this renewed creative vision.
