John Campbell - Sunjuneone

John Campbell returns to M.P.R Ambient with the newly released track entitled 'Sunjuneone'.

Release date: Jun 13, 2025

John Campbell, a Los Angeles-based composer and modular synth artist, releases Sunjuneone, an immersive longform drone that threads warm low-end pressure through sun-baked atmospheres and shifting tonal beds. Recording them in a one-take performance using hardware synths like the Make Noise Strega, 0-Coast, and 0-CTRL, Campbell draws on years of experience in film scoring and sound design to build lush, emotionally rich sonic textures.

Sunjuneone begins with tonal stillness, slowly layering granular motion and harmonic drift. The track eventually tilts into brightness, resolving with a sense of weightless calm - equal parts melancholy and light. With no percussion and no melodic hook, it creates emotional movement through pure tone and texture.

For fans of: Ryuichi Sakamoto, Tim Hecker, Alessandro Cortini.

Sunjuneone is part of an upcoming EP of non-percussive modular works, Sunjuneone deepens Campbell's catalog of meditative, cinematic sound design.

John Campbell - DD PT1

The track 'DD PT1' by John Campbell is now playing on M.P.R Ambient.

Release date: Apr 11, 2025

Los Angeles-based electronic composer John Campbell unveils “DD PT1,” a raw, one-take modular synth performance that blends analog tension with cinematic atmosphere.

Recorded live using a hybrid modular system (Strega, 0-Coast, 0-Ctrl, and Minibrute2) and textured through ambient delays and reverb, DD PT1 is the first in a new series of minimal, exploratory soundscapes. The track captures a foggy, pulsing mood—perfect for late-night introspection or futuristic playlists.

“DD PT1” is part of a growing catalog that channels John Campbell]'s background in film scoring into deeply immersive instrumental work. With no overdubs and no post-editing, the piece reflects a commitment to immediacy and sonic honesty.

For fans of: Alessandro Cortini, Survive, Tim Hecker, early Tangerine Dream.
